I am a Consultant Occupational Psychiatrist with 30 years’ experience in treating a wide variety of mental health conditions.
Having trained as a doctor in University College London, I have worked all over the UK and Channel Islands, gaining extensive experience of community, inpatient and specialist tertiary settings in all sectors - NHS, Ministry of Defence and Independent.
Observing the many challenges my colleagues faced sparked my interest in Occupational Psychiatry, and I subsequently undertook further training and qualified in Occupational Medicine.
In Fit-to-Work, I will assess, advise and make treatment recommendations for employees on complex mental health matters in the workplace. My goal being to improve recovery, reduce absenteeism, and increase staff retention. I believe the most effective way to treat clients is within a holistic framework, and will incorporate improving wellness and wellbeing into my treatment plans.
I specialise in work-related stress (including Imposter Syndrome), burnout, trauma, sleep disorders and PTSD, and can offer occupational formal assessment of ADHD and preliminary screening for neurodiverse conditions, with guidance on whether further assessment is required. Assessments and reports with recommendations for Workplace Adjustments for the employer are provided as necessary.
In addition to self-referrals, I accept referrals from Employer’s Occupational Health Providers and help to support employees through their journey - improving risk management in safety critical settings, promote psychological safety and optimise positive outcomes within the work environment.
